The LYMAS filmmakers and researchers will meet once again, this time in Wrocław (Poland), where one of the four project teams conducted their fieldwork. The gathering will take place on 26 November 2025 at 18:00 in Recepcja, as part of the SocjoPercepcja series. This semi-academic, semi-public event opens a space for dialogue on the possibilities that participatory and visual methods offer for studying mobilities and everyday life, as well as their potential to de-migranticize migration research.
The screening programme will feature short cuts created during the LYMAS film workshops:
- Zuzanna Jakubanis, Birds of That Forest
- Yuliya Mazurets, Yellow
- Jessica Muñoz Lucero, Where do I belong?
- Alessandra Polidori, Nesibe Polat, Roxane Mazery, Vrinda Gupta, Chai to Chocolate: A Journey in the Details
- Aleyna Yıldırım, Arada
Piotr Goldstein will join us to present This Week Doesn’t Really Exist, a film created within the VISION research project together with colleagues Olga Łojewska and Maksymilian Awuah at the DeZIM Institute.
After the screening, research participants and researchers will further reflect on the practices, opportunities, and challenges of collaborating for migration research and knowledge co-production. This discussion will revolve around questions such as: What can be considered participatory-driven research? What does working with film as a tool contribute? How do participants and researchers understand and reflect on their positionalities and involvement in the process?
The event is organized by the Institute of Sociology of the University of Wrocław and the Wrocław branch of the Polish Sociological Association, in cooperation with the Wrocław Institute of Culture, and with funding from Volkswagen Stiftung.
